About Castleton : : |
| |
Castleton is a honeypot village in the Derbyshire Peak District, in England. The village lies at the western end of the Hope Valley, on the Peakshole Water, a tributary of the River Noe. It is surrounded on three sides by steep hills, one of which, Mam Tor, supports the remains of a Celtic hill fort. Beneath the hills lie the four show caves that just beg to be explored. Peak Cavern lies beneath Peveril Castle and is the largest opening in Britain, celebrating the work of rope makers
