The St. Athans Hotel is a simple,
clean, family-run bed & breakfast in the heart of London. A grade II listed
Georgian terraced house, it retains many of its original features and is within
walking distance of the British Museum, the University of London and the new
British Library. It’s only a short bus ride away from the attractions of Madame
Tussaud’s and London’s West End, with its many shops, theatres and famous night
spots.

Tavistock Place is
named after the ground landlord, the Duke of Bedford, Marquess of Tavistock,
and was built c. 1807. The central London borough of Bloomsbury, where the
hotel is situated, is famous for its literary figures such as Charles Dickens
and Virginia Woolf's Bloomsbury Set who both lived just around the corner on
Tavistock Square. Tavistock Place is also home to the original Mary Ward
centre, a famous example of Art Nouveau in London. The hotel has been with the
same family since 1964 and is run by Lucia Geyer together with her children –
Hans, Stefan, Karl and Maria-Lisa. We offer a friendly service at great value
for money and provide a comfortable home from home. It is also somewhere you
can relax and feel welcome, and of course indulge in one of the ‘Best
Breakfasts in Town'.

We are a 2 minute walk from Russell Square underground station (on
the piccadilly line) and 5 minutes from Euston and King’s Cross/St.Pancras
(underground, mainline trains, & the soon-to-be-finished new International
Chunnel Railink). There are also numerous bus routes that connect us to many
parts of London. When flying in from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, Luton and
London City international Airports travel to the hotel is simple and
straightforward. Feel free to call us for directions From underground (tube)
stations- From Russell Square: cross Bernard St. by the pedestrian crossing,
walk straight to Marchmont Street, continue for 2 blocks. At Tavistock Place
turn left. From Euston Rd: pass the bus stops, cross the park in front of the
station, walk down Upper Woburn Place, at Tavistock Place turn left and we are
on the right hand side. From King’s Cross/St. Pancras: Walk up Euston Rd
(towards Euston station), turn left into Judd St. and then right into Tavistock
Place, we are then on the left hand side. From the Airports- From Heathrow:
Piccadilly Line tube straight to Russell Square (quickest) From Gatwick:
Thameslink train to King’s Cross then tube to Russell Sq. (quickest) or Gatwick
Express to Victoria, then tube to Euston. From Stanstead: Stanstead Express to
Tottenham Hale then tube to Euston (quickest) or to Liverpool St. then tube to
King’s Cross or tube to Russell Sq. From Luton:Thameslink train to King’s Cross
then tube to Russell Sq. From CityAirport: Bus to Canning Town, Docklands Light
Railway to Bank, then tube to Russell Square.
